Conducted by Kate Oliver
The Giovanni Consort are delighted to present a contrasting program, with something for everybody, in the QV1 Building this May!
The sacred-profane dichotomy acts to divide elements of life which are fundamentally sacred from those which are profane, or of mundane individual concern. This program examines how this has manifested itself in different composers works and the music has been selected either for it's sacred beauty or debauched silliness.
The major works will be Graeme Koehne's 'Mass for the Middle Aged', Britten's 'Sacred and Profane' and Bach's Der Geist Hillft. There will also be some short, and sometimes rude, English part songs, rounds and catches.
We look forward to bringing this amazing music in to this incredible space and its extraordinary acoustic.
