Sacrées et Sentiments: The chansons of Twentieth Century France

  • Christ Church Claremont 2 Queenslea Drive Claremont, WA, 6010 Australia (map)

The Giovanni Consort, conducted by Marilyn Phillips

Performers and audiences throughout the world have long held the choral music of France in high regard. In particular, the works of Faure, Poulenc, Ravel and Debussy have not only become favourites in concert performances, but also forged new compositional methods that are now commonly used in contemporary choral music.

The Giovanni Consort is delighted and privileged to present a selection of these works in the fantastic acoustics of Christ Church Claremont. The highly experienced Marilyn Phillips will conduct us as we sing works including Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine, Poulenc’s Chanson Françaises and Villette’s Hymne à la Vierge. Marilyn will also present a pre-concert talk to offer insight into the minds and methods of these composers. This talk will take place in the Church Hall and will be open to our Patrons and Sponsors.

Please join us for what will be a truly special performance of some of the great choral masterpieces.
