The Giovanni Consort, conducted by Hugh Lydon
Throughout the history of choral music, many of the great composers wrote works that celebrated the purity of upper voices. For the third concert of the 2017 series, The Giovanni Consort will perform a program comprised entirely of music to be performed by women.
Starting with the music of Hildegard Von Bingen, we will present a chronological timeline of music written for upper voices, finishing with music composed in the 21st century. Pieces from each period of music will be sung, including Holst’s Two Eastern Pictures and Pergolesi’s masterpiece Stabat Mater.
The concert will be held in the majestic acoustics of St Joseph’s Church, Subiaco. Hugh Lydon will conduct this performance, and will also give a pre-concert talk where he will outline the development of music for upper voices.
We hope to see you at this performance to join in our celebration of the female voice.
