Australian Sounds
The Giovanni Consort presents a rare all-Australian expedition of music by the country’s best and brightest home-grown composers. Works by Alice Chance, Ross Edwards, Lydia Gardiner, Dulcie Holland, Steven Hodgson, Juliana Kay, Stephen Leek, Clare Maclean, Ruth McCall, Matthew Orlovich, Paul Stanhope and Joseph Twist are hallmarks in this flagship event of the Consort’s exciting 2024 season.
This work will be performed on Saturday 24th August, at the North Perth Town Hall (26 View St, North Perth, WA 6006).

Requiem for an Empress
For the first concert of our 2024 subscription season, The Giovanni Consort presents one of the gems of the Spanish Renaissance, the Requiem for Six Voices by Tomás Luis de Victoria - his Officium Defunctorum published in 1605.
This beautiful Mass for the Dead is Victoria's last composition, written to farewell the Empress María of Austria. This concert will also include chants of the ancient funeral rite heard by mourners in the year 1603.
This unique presentation has been researched and assembled by new artistic director Nicholas Dinopoulos.

Meet the Artistic Director: My Favourite Things
We're thrilled to introduce our new Artistic Director, Nicholas Dinopoulos, to Perth audiences in this intimate twilight recital.
Nick hails from Melbourne, and will be joining us on three occasions this year to direct our singers in concert. Apart from his work as a conductor, he's also a leading singer in opera and recitals and has worked across Australia and New Zealand. He will be joined on this occasion by pianist Adrian Soares in repertoire ranging from Schubert to Verdi and Poulenc to Piazzolla, with a few surprises along the way.

Enjoy Perth's premier chamber choir alongside the magical sound of period instruments as they perform beloved cantatas by J.S. Bach and rare works by Caterina Assandra, Chiara Margarita Cozzolani and more.
Our pop-up bar will be serving drinks from 5.30pm.
Meditate with Music
Join the Giovanni Consort for this unique event combining deep relaxation and mindfulness with calming and exquisite music by Perth's premier chamber choir. Through deep breathing and gentle movement led by renowned yoga teacher Stephanie Johnson, enter a state of relaxation and heightened awareness as we lead you through this carefully curated program.
Featuring Thomas Tallis's Lamentations of Jeremiah, as well as works by Rafaella Aleotti, C.V. Stanford, Judith Bingham and James Macmillan.
Both yoga mats and traditional seating will be available, allowing you to choose how you wish to enjoy the experience.
Suitable for lovers of music, and novice and experienced yoga practitioners alike.

The ethereal voices of the Giovanni Consort will captivate audiences as we explore galaxies under the Planetarium dome. The performance will feature Renaissance masterworks by composers including Tallis, Monteverdi, and Viadana, and explore the themes of creation, resurrection, and ascension.
